Mobile Technology and Adult Education

The photo above was taken on the subway in New York City.  What do you see?  How many people are using some sort of electronic device?  What are they doing with these devices?

According to a study by the Pew Research Center
 As of May 2013:
  • 91% of American adults have a cell phone
  • 56% of American adults have a smartphone
  • 28% of cell owners own an Android; 25% own an iPhone; 4% own a Blackberry
  • 34% of American adults own a tablet computer
As of January 2013:
  • 26% of American adults own an e-reader
This steady increase in ownership of electronic devices including cell phones, smartphones, tablets and e-readers, means that many adults have access to these tools inside and outside of class.  How do we help adult students use these tools to further their education?  On this site we hope to begin answering that question.
